ABOUT ME

Hi to everyone.
I am Priyanka Patwari!

I believe that that life is a journey. A journey that teaches you. I joined facebook 8 years back just like others did to get in touch with my old friends. However I realized that it was a small perception of facebbok. It was bigger than this and it just helped me to achieve so many things in life. It helped me to grow and flourish. It gave me the wings to fly.

My Life Is a box of colors

Life is a mystery and constant journey that has phases. The beauty of life is not the destination but the journey.

Many times I have heard people saying that my life is black and white or every decision in your life has two aspects black and white. No I disagree strongly, life is colorful and it is you who decides the color of your life.

Let us assume you desire to paint it grey, then it turns out to be dull and boring, add a splash of color to it, be it romantic red or the energetic orange or the lush green. Life is too short for not experiencing the beauty of colors. I am not against a color but it is the mix palette of color that attracts me. A monochromatic painting looks good for a while but thereafter your eyes start to look for something that has vibes of all the color.

One can say that too many colors or feelings may be too much to handle or grasp, is not life all about a learning expedition? You experiment and mix different colors bring different colors and create a rainbow for yourself.

Coming to the tones of colors, black a bad color no definitely not as much as it represents the bad or negatives things it also symbolizes secrecy in your life. One has to agree that color black teaches the most as it is the negative things that make you stronger and let you enjoy the other colors of life. Also it symbolizing secrecy shows that always revealing too much and in front of unwanted people may lead to serious consequences. Thus even black has significance in your life and that too important.

White a color that represents peace and harmony and also loneliness, a color that we desire yet we dread. We all desire that me time but when we get it we try to rush back to the pinks and blue of life and of course the red. Pink the cute little angel and blue the little man of your life. And red is the backdrop of your canvas giving the extra shine to all the colors. Red color or the color of love adds meaning to your existence but the same is also the color of danger, the impending danger. Love takes you to heights but when shades of obsession and jealousy engulf it, it tends to be self-destructing.

Green the color prosperity has a special significance in your life as it inspires you to grow and provide shade and comfort to the ones who require it. Alarming is the color green as when you help others you are yourself exposed to the hazards.

All the colors are beautiful and add to the beauty of life. It is on us as to how we take the colors and involve them in our lives to make it a masterpiece!

Dear school, I hate you , you are not kid’s friendly, The new generation school

Every other day there are news popping up in the newspaper regarding the crimes committed against our munchkins in the school premises. We try to overcome the fear from one incident and get our little off to school and yet another devastating news makes the headline. Where are we leading to. Let us peep in the situation and try to analyse what is going wrong rather than just playing the blame games.

A school is a place where a child spends the maximum waking hours of the day. The child goes to school to learn, get the education and become a good citizen of the country. Parents send their children to school with all the trust that the school will take care of the child safety and security. With so many incidents happening, where the children are killed, it is a matter great concern.

Are our children safe in school? How do we ensure the security of the children when they are on the school premises? To safeguard the security of the children and students it has to be a teamwork of the school and the parents so that the children go safely to school and come home happy. Working together towards the safety of the kids would never give a child a chance to say I hate you School.

There are a few simple measures which a school should keep in mind to ensure the safety of the children they are as follows-

1) The school premises should have only one entry/exit. If it does have other gates, it should be locked and its use should be totally banned. Along with that, those extra gates should have security guards too.

2) The entry to bus area, gym, swimming pool, sports room, fields, canteens, toilets should be restricted to people whose presence in these places is utmostly required. For example- A canteen boy should not be seen on the sports field or a bus driver should not be there near the library or swimming pool. The school staff should be instructed not to loiter in an anywhere in the school. This would prevent in decreasing the chances of mishaps.

3) CTV cameras should be installed in such a way that it would cover all the critical areas of the school premises. The entrance of the toilets should necessarily have a CCTV camera but to ensure the dignity of the students CCTV should not be allowed inside the toilet.

4) Every staff and teacher hired in the school should be done after many strict levels of scrutiny and verification. The school should also ensure that all the people being hired for different works in the school should go through an interview with a counselor so that the management gets a psychological feedback about the person. They should also be trained to work in sync to ensure the ethics and values of the school.

5) The world is going digital. Apart from the buses having a GPS navigation the badges of the school which the children wear mandatorily should be installed with a navigational GPS chip and the parents should be able to track when and where the children are. Many expensive and big schools are doing it but it should be a mandatory law made by the government for every big and small school across the country.

Apart from the school, there are some things which the parents need to teach the children. The children should be treated as friends and parents should devote some time every day to talk to the children about all the happenings in the school. The children should not hesitate to share the whereabouts of the school with their parents. this would help the parents know if anything is going wrong in school.

The parents also need to teach the children the difference between the good touch and bad touch. The children should know that they should react and ask for help if they are being touched wrongly.

A few easy and simple measures of the school and parents as a team will help a child gain education, make use of it to serve the country. The children should love their school as they got to spend around 12-13 years of their lives there. Let us try to make it the best place for them.

How to teach your kids the importance of MONEY

The financial skills are an integral and important part of life still the schools do not teach the value of money to kids. Thus as parents these responsibilities comes on to us. To help our children live a life that is financially fit we need to
teach them the value of money. We need to teach them the importance of money as per their age. Gradually bigger concepts need to be introduced. As early as at the age of seven the kids need to be introduced to the concept of money.

Turning your day to day activities in to the learning experience, can help you to teach your kids the value of money. It could be a visit to the fruit market give them 10 rupee note and ask them to buy a fruit of their choice. The concept or let us say the skill that they would use to buy the fruit will lay the stepping stone to their knowledge of money, spending, choosing, saving and sadly the most important factor the loss of forgone alternative.

Loss of forgone alternative is an economic concept that specifies the loss of a commodity that a person had to face as he spent the amount on other commodity. This concept will play in the kid’s mind like he could buy guava or orange with the money. Buying one would keep him away from the other and at the same time there would be something that he actually wants to buy but has to avoid due to cash constraints.

Parents are the biggest influence on kids financial behavior so the sole responsibility lays vested upon us as how we bring them up as mindful consumers, investors, savers and givers.

One thing that you always need to instigate in the mind of your child is that he has to wait till he buys something or he has to earn or save before he buys something. Earn in its literal term will not be taken it refers that the child by his behavior or good deeds will have to earn the reward for the thing that he desires to buy. Money lessons that have been instilled in the kids at their formative years sets the tone for future.

Get your child three jars one for spending, one for sharing and one for saving. This will help them to allocate the money they have. Once they have enough money in the saved they can get a pricey toy or from the spending jar they eat ice cream or anything. Important is sharing jar as to with whom they share their siblings, friends or charity. This will draft them as better person who has compassion for others and comes forward to help others. Inculcating this value in them will go long way to make them worthwhile for humanity.

Also teach them the importance of the fact that money is finite but wants and desires are not. So at every stage of life they need to learn to make choices. While making the budget ask their suggestions also and explain them about their so made decision. Ask them about your decision of saving for their education or family vacations and other such things.

Family

Yes I am married, But i am a daughter also!

Every year we celebrate the Women’s day we praise her different, roles that of a daughter, sister, friend, wife, daughter in law, mother and many more in the list. However the irony is that we just desire and love to see her being torn in different relations that constitutes her identity.

It is a common saying in the society, during the wedding of the girl that she is raw clay and can be molded as per your likings, but what about the likings of her parents or the principles and values that were instilled in her so far. You desire to turn her in a different person irrespective of the fact how well brought up she was. This can be compared to a situation that you have got a beautiful painting but rather appreciating the efforts and beauty of the painting, you desire to make changes in it and thus you ruin a beautiful painting. I am aware of the fact there are different set of rules for each house but rather changing her just add an additional frame to her. Be the support system for her. Then just like the magic color that changes merely by being touched witness the beautiful changes that she brings in herself to adapt the situation at your place.

We expect her to be available 24×7 for the services of in laws and their extended families but when her parents need her we are reluctant to send her. For once in life realize that they are her parents and she loves them as much as your son loves you. They also expect a bit of love and care in the 2 nd innings of their life. When a mother brings a new life in the world she has to bear the same pain be it a boy or girl. It is the malpractices in the society that brings the difference in perception and thus a boy is celebrated and girl is not. The boy comes with the assurance that he will marry a girl who will take care of his parents in their old age. On the other hand the parents of a girl are sad because she will have been sent to other family were she may be ill treated and her rights and desire to visit her parents will be snatched. One of the major reasons that why female foeticide occurs is not because we love boys more than girls but because we are scared that if we do not have boys our old age will be miserable and lonely. For once we
need to think over the situation and let the girls also be there for her parents. And I would like to add why only daughters and not the son in laws. When the girl can take care of your parents whole heartedly why cannot you be there for her parents fulfilling the role of a son and supporting your wife during the rough times, the way she supported you during your struggle phase.

If you see the situation from the perspective of an outsider does not it anguish you to see the miserable condition of the women, whose different roles had been celebrated. Accept her in your family and not just expect her to be so and so. One moment you want her to be compassionate and caring towards your problems and immediately if her parents are going through the same situation you want her to be ignorant and overlook the situation. Even the computer that has been programmed follows the same solution for same problems and she as a human being who is not equal to computer in matters of decision-making, is expected to behave differently.

Let us truly take the pledge to celebrate womanhood and appreciate and support the different roles that she can play. Let her journey be a smooth one, do not tear her apart let her be a daughter and daughter in law at the same time.

How to give kids TECH free Environment

The other my 10 year child came home complaining severe headache. The pain was
so severe that she was unable to lift her head even to ear meals. I panicked and
reached out for the doctor who could identify any issues so recommended an eye
specialist. We went for the examination and to our surprise her first question was
how much time does your child spends on the mobile or tab. She did not do any test
it was this one question and an affirmative answer from our side concluded about
the disease and its cure. Simple the doctor said that the time spent on the screen
should be reduced.
However the doctor did her job, but letting your child not sit in front of the screen or
taking the gadget away from the child is a herculean task for mothers. We are
preoccupied by work or let us say if we want to feed the child we put the gadget in
front of the child and we are sorted. We apply the negative and positive aspect of
upbringing together. This concept or let us say the methodology is wrong. A bad
habit can never eradicate another bad habit. Therefore it is important to have set
rules of upbringing, but remember kids are kids and they do not follow the rules so it
is important to inculcate the good traits in them via practice. If you plat games or
surf the net your child will do the same rather read a book to your child to find the
answer and see your child will do the same. Kids are good at imitating thus give them
something good to imitate. Inculcate the habit of reading in them and see them
becoming bookworms. Rather than playing games on the screen play it on the
ground or park. If there is no space for outdoor games get some indoor games and
see their brain developing and reasoning skills improving. Parenting is a full time task
and you cannot let that piece of technology take your place in terms of time spent
with child. If there are kids in your apartment or locality organize play dates with
them. This would entertain your child and other kids also. Moreover the hazards that
technology can put in your kids life can be reduced.
It is not easy but it is not difficult also and owing to the benefits and its importance
on improving your bond with your child it is definitely a must. Your child grows in a
big community learning from different people and has real friends rather than virtual
friend. The child learns to stay in a real environment with real happiness and smile
rather than just fictitious environment where he plays with an unknown mind. The
child learns to communicate and the importance of expressions in his life.

Today is the era technology and it is important to teach the kids the healthy
concepts of using digital technology. Media and digital devices are an integral part of
our society. They are beneficial if used in moderation but can impose risks when
used without any rationing. Keep the face to face communications on and do not get
lost behind the lights of media and technology.

Relax with every breath

What does relaxation mean to you? Sitting in front of the TV? Or chilling out with your friends? Have you ever thought how breathing can help you reduce stress? Breathing exercises, if done in the right way can help you reduce stress. Breathing helps release body enhance its response system, which helps in reducing the stress.
There are a number of techniques that one can practice and make them a part of their everyday cycle. Some of them are deep breathing, meditation, rhythmic exercises, and yoga. If you include them in your daily schedule, you will soon start noticing the benefits that it provides.

Deep breathing :
Deep breathing seems to be very simple in nature. But it is a very powerful technique. You do not need any special place to practice, just the correct posture and technique and you are done.
First of all, you have to sit comfortably with your back straight. Keep one hand on your chest and the other one on your stomach.
Start breathing with the help of your nose, you will see that the hand on your stomach starts rising. The other hand will have very less movement.
Now exhale through your mouth.
You have to continue this practice of inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth.
If you cannot perform this exercise while sitting, you can always lie down and do it.

Rhythmic techniques :
The way one performs meditation with full involvement, in a similar manner, rhythmic techniques can also be performed. These include walking, swimming, climbing. When you are performing these techniques, make sure that your focus on your body parts, instead of getting involved in your own thoughts. Focus on each step that you take and with each step, focus on the rhythm. This will make your nervous system very strong and will also help in activating your response system.

Morning breathing :
If you are someone who gets muscle stiffness every morning, then this one is for you. After getting up in the morning
Stand straight and bend forward from your waist and let loose your arms on the floor. You can touch the floor slightly.
Now start inhaling slowly and return to your standing position.
Stay in that position for some time and hold your breath. After that, exhale and return to your actual position.

Bellows breath :
In this technique, you have to inhale and exhale with the help of your nose. The only condition is that you will have to keep your mouth closed.
Make sure that the duration of your breaths is not long. Try to keep it as short as possible, but the rhythm has to be same. If you are exhaling for ten seconds, you have to inhale also for ten seconds.
If you want better results, in one second, try this technique for three times. Your diaphragm will start moving quickly and you will feel it moving. This is called as bellows breathing.
If you are a beginner, do not do this for more than 15 seconds. Go slow and each time you can increase the duration as per your convenience till your reach one minute. If you do this properly, you will start feeling light from day one itself.

Relationship

Sibling bond and how to improve it.

The relationship that gives you grief and pleasure together is the sibling bond. This relationship
is one of the most important in our lives as we share our upbringing, genes, and secrets too, with
all its ups and downs in the relationship.

Being a parent to more than a child involves most of your day managing the frictions and fights
between the children. A brother and sister can be great playmates as well as soul mates. Siblings
can minimise boredom by provoking, teasing and annoying each other. They are the best of
friends and the bitterest of foes.
If you worry a lot about your children's relationship and you wonder if you are the only one then
it's time you join the gang. Here are some tips to increase sweet friendship and decrease angry
arguments between the children.

It is very important to teach the children how to resolve their own differences. The process is
simple when they argue you just need to listen to them and ask them to explain what he or she
wants to do.
Not allowing them to argue, blame or make excuses when the other is talking. When they have
expressed themselves ask the children to figure out the best possible solution together so that
they both can get what they want. It is not the parent’s job to solve the problem or give them a
solution. Our job as parents is to guide them and insist on civility and kindness of working out
things. Thus an argument over a television show means that no one gets to watch the TV until
the problem is solved which should be solved by the combined efforts of the siblings.
This process meeting time but more this is done with the children the tendency of arguments will
resolve quickly and they learn to come to a common decision together.

Some general common rules have to be set at home which is a mandatory thing to be followed by
the children. If there are repeated frictions and arguments set some common rules that have to be
followed until someone comes up with a better solution of the problem. For example, my
children were responsible for emptying the dishwasher. To avoid any kind of conflict half the
shelf was emptied by one child and the other half by another. Once I asked if they wanted to
switch the shelves which they were responsible for, they did not seem interested as they thought
that they had the easier shell to manage.
Comparing the children to each other would nurture the feeling of inferiority complex which
would not be good for a then healthy relationship. Instead of comparing, a parent can engage the
kids in games where they team up to compete with you. For instance, who can get teeth brushed,
change into sleeping clothes and into the bed faster, you or them? Or you can get into a
competition to see who cleans the garden full of leaves faster, you or them? The mantra to
creating close sibling relationships is to teach the children to tolerate their differences. They
should learn to help each other in as many ways to successfully navigate life.
Children are very strongly influenced by their parent's opinion and value the most. They learn
what they see their parents doing. It is very important for us as parents to set the best example in

front of our kids if we maintain a good relationship with each other, it results in the children
learning to maintain one as well. It is very important to make sure to recognize and appreciate
valued sibling interactions when they play together to share, help each other or stick up for one
another.
The relationship siblings share is one where they get a soulmate, a partner in crime and a best
friend. As parents, it is our responsibility to make our kids understand the value of the
relationship not sure it and bring the best out of them.
